I found it really interesting to hear how editing roles differ in comics and prose. Having just received a comic I supported on kickstarter that was riddled with grammatical issues, I totally know what you mean about getting taken out of the story when a story hasn’t been well edited. This particular comic would have also benefited from a letterer, a role I think is highly undervalued until you experience bad lettering.
I was shouting “Onomatopoeia!!” in my head when you were talking about the sound effects. It’s a great word! 😁
Thanks for the rec, it's on sale! I have a ton of these sorts of books I love to collect (art books too), I just wish I had more time to use them.
Two of my favorites are "How Not to Write a Novel," and "Steal Like an Artist," although not fully editing related.
On a side note, I feel like Matt's audio sounds far away the last 2 or 3 casts, and I have to turn it way up to hear, at least in the car, and I don't have much trouble with the other podcasts I listen to.
Thanks for the additional books to check out! And yes, we noticed the same on the audio for Matt - we’ll get that fixed (although the next recording, he’ll likely be on the road - so, we’ll see how that goes!). Thanks!

Thanks Ben! And thanks for the topic suggestion! We love to hear what people want us to talk about!

Thanks for listening, JJ! 🙏🏼❤️ And thanks for the heads up on the volume issues. We'll take a look at it.
